UPDATE 1:
Due to a little difference between different bearings sizes I will upload different STLs for different bearing models. Most commonly used 623ZZ came first.
UPDATE 2:
Added R2-5ZZ bearing version STLs
UPDATE 3:
Added R2ZZ bearing version STLs
UPDATE 4:
Materials needed (BOM):
- 3 bearings ( look STL names - there are types of bearing stl is designed for. Third bearing (arm) can be different from two others, but still has to match it's STL.
- 2x M3x10mm screws, 4xM3 spacers, 2x m3 nuts (main bearing shafts)
- 1x M3x16mm screw, 2 or 3 M3 spacers, 1x M3 nut (arm bearing shaft)
- 1x M3x16mm screw, 1x M3 nut (arm mount)
- 2x M3x20mm screws, 2xM3 nuts (backlash adjust) - can be replaced with one rubber band :)
Hi.
Bearings in my Anet a8 printer was very poor quality. This was lowering the print quality, so I've decided to replace them with something better.
First I have printed bearing blocks instead of the aluminium ones, because they do not fits lm8uu bearings well. This was better, but not excellent.
Then i have tried printed PLA bearings available on thingverse, but it was a failure too.
I saw bearing block then. It is a smart idea, but none of projects available do not fit my needs. So I have decided to make my own model of bearing block.
This model is a lm8uu bearing replacement ( 8mm shaft bearing with block):
- size is almost the same. It should fit everywhere when original bearing block fits.
- should fit large amount of bearing models up to 3x8x10mm ( for example 623zz, R2-5ZZ, and lot of others)
- It has a backlash compensation, so u will never has unwanted clearance between shaft and block
- backlash compensation can be done both ways - by two m3 screws (with springs too?), or simply by rubber band :P
- it is far lighter than original one
- just some cheap small bearings are needed, m3 screws and m3 spacers
Test it and tell me what you thing.
This looks like complicated model to print, but it is quite easy one :).
Notes:
- This is for 3 bearings, not 4 as on photos.
- Just print as low layer height as you can.
- Print very slow.
- There is a little bridging over there (but very small ones), so cooling fan may be needed.
- No supports needed
I have not tested it on multiple bearing models so...
IF THIS PROJECT DO NOT FITS YOUR BEARINGS PLEASE TELL ME !! ----
have fun!
