I saw that some people were getting floppy leg syndrome on their Mini Tripods. I printed a Mini Tripod in PLA first, and it worked like a charm. I printed it in flexible TPU next for extra strength.
I found that the flexible filament is very easy to snap apart after printing. This made it easy to unfold the legs and even have them be removable to replace with a different color if I so choose. Unfortunately, the legs were too unrestrained and became floppy.
I made some sort of retaining collar the keep those pesky legs from doing the splits while wearing an expensive piece of hardware on top. Mine is flexible and it works perfectly. I think it should work a little better printed in a more rigid material, but I really wanted to keep the color scheme intact.
This should be a simple modification. Just place it between the ball head and legs and presto! You're done.
